We had a lovely little communion party for our daughter. I planned on giving our guests lovely communion favors to mark this special party. The gifts in the shops I went to just didn’t strike my fancy. Then I thought about going online to shop for party favors. We had a cake decorated for the occasion, hired a band and made a buffet of different foods for the guests. We tried to keep things as simple as possible but at the same time show her how proud we were of her and make this a day she’ll never forget. With all the pictures we took at her communion party, I’m so glad we decided to make the pink photo album an extra little communion gift for her. We didn’t have a caterer or anything real fancy, it was all home cooked food and some of the other moms helped with preparing the meal. We had fried chicken, potato salad, vegetables and a few different types of salads. Our family and some of our closest friends enjoyed this wonderful afternoon with us. It turned out to be a very nice evening and everyone seemed to have a good time, including our daughter. Her father and I had her name engraved on a beautiful gold cross we ordered for her, and there were many wonderful communion gifts she received from our guests, too.
I couldn’t help but feel that this was a practice run for her wedding and reception. Someday, not too far away, we’ll be filling out invitations and picking out wedding accessories together. When she’s ready to start planning her wedding and reception, I’ll know the perfect place for her to go shopping.
